I have really been doing a bad job of keeping this section current. There has been a lot of progress made and I started this site to be a brain dump of everything I've learned but I have really been slacking off.
So in the near future look for a lot of updates on ZX-12 programming, specifically How-To instructions on reflashing the ECU.
Also look for posts on:
Real world validation: Supra5677 is now running a reflashed ECU on his bike and likes the results very much.
Emulator: I built a bike 'emulator' that allows me to run the ECUs off the bike and experiment with different maps/features without putting the bikes at risk or wasting expensive dyno time.
Maps: Discussion on some of the easier things to change in a map like RPM limiter, speed limiter, and ignition timing
A/B maps: The ecu has two sets of maps that can be changed at the flip of a switch
Telemetry: The ecu has the hardware and software to realtime dump the rpm, sensor data, throttle position etc. It just needs to be turned on in the software.
