can't get engine data to work

I was going to sync my throttle bodies on my busa.  wanted to see that the throttle % is at correct zero with engine data.  wanted to turn the isc off to sync tb and reset isc when done.

I have ben useing ecu editor for almost 3 years now on my busa and several others.  I have had the boost by smith flasher, woolich racing usb flasher, and the woolich racing log box.  I have always had a problem useing the engine data. I have only got it work work a couple of times. just got done trying every wich way to get it to work in the garage for the last half hour.  the switch is in the correct position.  com port is number 11. is says it is out of range.  it flashes correctly on com port 11.  logging/auto tune works fine in com 11. will engine data really not work on com 11?

what am I doing wrong? why am I having so many problems?  I have another local friend with the boost by smith flasher and he said he has never ben able to get engine data to work.

Try it with a com port or 1-4. You may have to delete or re-assign the ports to get it that low.

Go to the control panel, click system, then hardware.

What Operating System are you running?

windows xp.  I go to device manager/universal serial bus controllers.  I can turn them all off, turn them all on.  if it pulls up just com port 4 nothing works.  If I click on setup com ports and com12 is available to select and I select it, it works.  Only works on com12 though.  if I go to engine data loger it shows the info ( iap, tps, etc).  Can't get anything to work on engine data though. if I click on com4 nothing works.  if I click on com12 I can flash, and view info in data loger.

I apreciate the help, but I think I will have to save it for another day.  I need sync the tb and put the body work on.  I need to cut my brand new 09 black side panels and make a aluminium mount at the bottom to hold the side panels together.  I think I am going to put a screw in holding the sides to the upper also. lowers have 3" cut off to clear dme pro street oil pan and ti winder. perfect side fairings blew off a couple months ago.  I have had the new side fairings for almost a month and havn't put them on yet.  ben workin 14 hour days 7 days a week since I got them.  I have today off and want to get the new body work on. wasted most of the day trying to get engine data to work.

Thank you.
