I have two KTM990 bikes, one from 2008 one from 2011. The 2011 one has an immobilizer and I saw a lot of reports that the immobilizer antenna (or just the immobilizer) crashes and will let the bike non operational. As I am doing quite long trips in remote places (last time I was in Iran) I would like to get rid of the immobilizer so that it is taken out from the equation. I checked the schematics and there seems to be a CAN bus between the ECU and immobilizer but the rest of the bike is not using the CAN.
So I hooked a can2usb on the bus device (the CAN_H and CAN_L are also available in the diag connector) to see what is going on there. There are few messages exchanged on the bus since I power on the bike and that is it.
Now the question is: How to decode those messages as they seem to be a challenge-response communication? Any help or info on the Keihin protocol(?) over CAN bus?
