ELM327 version upgrade

Hello,

I was wondering if someone ever upgraded the firmware of an ELM327?

As we know the lastest version should be 2.2 (source). But the cheap stuff that we buy on amazon, aliexpress, ebay are advertised to be 1.5 (which doesn't exist) and i think they are actually 1.3

 

So has anyone ever flashed a new software in a ELM327? if yes which?

The ELM327 typically uses a PIC18F25K80 mcu but the code is protected so you can't read it. Yes, the clones seem to be using a hack of version 1.3, but those are protected too. The PIC itself is easy enough to reflash, but I haven't been able to find the firmware for any version online. If you do manage to find one, please let me know...

In the past days i google a lot around but i wasn't able to find any firmware, it looks like that they are good at keeping their secret!

For sure i will write back if i will be luckly, if you find something please let me know

btw you may be interested in this: github.com/uholeschak/ediabaslib/blob/master/docs/Replace_ELM327_HC04_Firmware.md someone wrote it from zero. It could be a very good starting point
